This unique location on the harbour peninsular along with sandy beaches provides stunning views over Auckland - New Zealand's City of Sails, the Waitemata Harbour and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf from its three Mounts. Many locals know Devonport peninsular as the "Village of Auckland", it is laden with history commencing with Maori occupation before the arrival of Europeans and the establishment of the first European settlements in 1840. Devonport is surrounded by sea and commands magnificent 360 degree views from Mount Victoria Takarunga, of the Hauraki Gulf and Auckland City, just across the bay. Devonport derives much of its charm from the fine examples of colonial villas that have been restored and renovated, together with the beautiful examples of native flora that can be seen in the many parks, reserves and beaches of the village.
