"First look at The Garden Room at Peace and Plenty Inn decided our stay for the next 2 nights. Luxurious surroundings inside and out, mixed with the service and care provided by host, Judy made time spent with my sister and mother, most memorable. Delicious breakfast and The Mother's Day Victorian Afternoon Tea were beautifully presented and enjoyed. Well done to Judy and her staff and thanks for the privelege."

"Judy was a fabulous hostess! Since there were 10 of us traveling in our group it seemed like alot for her to accommodate but she did it with a smile and made sure to chat with each of us. The breakfasts were fabulous!! She makes the best granola anywhere in the world! We would stay here in a heartbeat if we are lucky enough to make it back to this side of the world again!! Loved Stanley the dog too ;)"

"This B&B was our first stop on our 9 week tour of New Zealand. We were made very welcome and the rooms are delightful. The breakfasts are wonderful - especially the gluten free pancakes - what a treat to find somewhere that will cater for my diet problem. The location of the house is ideal for catching the ferry across to Auckland main town for sight seeing. A wonderful stay - thank you."
Guest from Uttoxeter - 20/01/10
"Very pleasant, comfortable, excellent food and delightful conversation. Thank you , judy and stanley! A perfect ending to a great visit to New Zealand"
Sue and Marcia - Denver USA - 19/10/09
"In all of our travels all over the world this has to be the most welcoming and wonderful place to stay. The Devonport location is excellent, with fantastic eating places on the doorstep. The Peace and Plenty Inn is a beautiful building, lovingly cared for by Judy who could not be a better hostess. She's got the kind of attention to detail that corporate chains can never achieve. Every room is different: we have stayed in the Victoria and the Windsor - but each is equally lovely. Breakfasts are delicious. We first stayed here two years ago and have spent the last two years talking about Judy's breakfasts. On our recent return visit we were not disappointed. We can't imagine staying anywhere else in Auckland and look forward to our next visit later this month."
"I stayed at the Peace and Plenty with a wonderful host Judith, what a beautiful place with fantastic views, and such a great location for the city. I visit Auckland quite regularly on business and will be staying at the Peace and Plenty on every trip now. As a business professional the wireless connection has made the accommodation step into a business league with people like myself travelling to Auckland. I still want a convenient and comfortable place to stay but out of the hustle and the bustle. The Peace and Plenty exceeds my expectations every time."
"Peace and Plenty, the name says it all. Set in the perfect "peaceful" location of Devonport, yet so convenient to the action of the city. Your wonderful hosts provides beautifully decorated, comfortable rooms that are the cleanest I've ever been in. Attention to details are thoughtful and "plentiful." We arrived happy and impressed and left feeling like we were leaving a familiar home and a friend. Looking forward to our next visit. I highly recommend a stay at the Peace and Plenty Inn - you won't be disappointed."
"We stayed here for two nights in April and found it utterly delightful. Judy is a warm and generous host. The decor is gorgeous, the rear garden subtropical and the location very convenient. We didn't need a rental car as this inn is walking distance from the ferry which sails regularly to/from downtown Auckland. Devonport has a pleasant village feeling with boutique shops and a good choice of restaurants and cafes. But best of all is The Peace and Plenty Inn!"
"Devonport, just across the harbour from busy Auckland, is a lovely haven for a weekend away. The well positioned Peace and Plenty Inn is an excellent place to stay. The name says it all - there is a real feel of peace and tranquility when entering this beautifully refurbished Victorian home. You will be welcomed with a big smile and lots of advice about the area and what to do there, should you require it. They have a very good web site which shows the rooms and facilities. The house has lovely art work and handmade crafts displayed and the beautiful garden has the feel of an oasis with it's water feature, tall palms and greenery (not to mention Bromeliads). The breakfast we had was very tasty and if you wish you may sit and chat with guests also visiting, or have your own private table. My husband and I very much enjoyed our weekend at The Peace and Plenty Inn and would recommend a visit for locals, as well as tourists..."
"Just across the bridge from busy downtown Auckland lies the quiet town of Devonport and the beautiful Peace and Plenty B&B. It is truly an elegant and peaceful escape from the noise and traffic of the city. The lovely setting, the short walk to the beach, the beautiful rooms, baths, and the unsurpassed breakfast (don't miss this!), make this B&B not just a place to stay, but a true vacation destination for visitors to the Auckland area. The comfort of home, friendly advice and the professional, warm care of a renown inn make the Peace and Plenty my top choice."
"This is a first class Bed and Breakfast owned and run by a fabulous, lady, Judy. Judy goes out of her way to make one feel extra special in her home and she is full of information about what to see and do. The B&B is beautiful, warm, very clean and the gardens are spectacular. Did I mention the breakfast? Just outstanding! What a find!! Devonport is a quaint town, and Auckland is just a ferry ride away. If going to Auckland, stay in Devonport and most definitely stay at the Peace and Plenty Inn. We were lucky enough to have 2 nights there and we would go back in a heartbeat!"
"A very beautiful house and a delightful holiday."
"In our recent holiday of two months in NZ, the Peace and Plenty B&B, Devonport, Auckland, was by far the most enjoyable. Its location, ambiance and the care and attention shown us by the owner Mrs Judy Machin and her staff was really excellent. 'Peace and Plenty' certainly lives up to the description on its web site; a beautiful old house and garden with pretty and comfortable rooms, breakfasts to die for, and an owner who really cares about the well being of her guests. Devonport itself is a wonderful, peaceful location; lovely views over Auckland Bay, easy ferry access to city and islands, charming old 'cottages' and a good choice of local restaurants. The ideal 'home from home' in the city!"
"Just perfect! - wonderful accommodation, food and hospitality."
"A beautiful place. We would love to stay again someday."
"Most relaxing stay with fantastic host."
"A wonderful first stop on our New Zealand honeymoon - beautiful place and wonderful hostess!"
"Beautiful! The attention to detail made it."
"Stanley has trained a superior hostess."
"Never to be forgotten: swimming with Stanley, nesting garnets, wonderful hospitality."
"Arrived exhausted, left relaxed and refreshed, Lovely!"
"Over the past 12 months I have travelled to Barcelona, Milan, Prague, Beijing, Rome and Auckland - in that order. Because each trip has had a business component I have had the good fortune to always stay in the best accommodations. However, nothing compares to the experience I recently enjoyed at the Peace and Plenty. From the grace and elegance of the decor, to the understated style and attentiveness of the service, to the tranquility of the setting - nothing compares with the Peace and Plenty. And then there's Judith; not only the owner but more especially the gracious host and advisor who does everything to make your experience unforgettable. Providing advice about where to dine, what to visit and how to get from A to B. Anyone can create a beautiful Bed and Breakfast establishment, but it is the very few that give so freely of their care and kindness to turn vacation accommodation into a loving home. And of course no review of the Peace and Plenty would be complete without discussing the location. This home away from home is nestled in the charming seaside village of Devonport. When staying at the Peace and Plenty you have cafes and fine dining around the corner, the ocean a stones throw away, and the ferry that whisks you across the harbour to Auckland is just a five minute leisurely stroll through the village. There is no doubt that all my future stays in Auckland will be at the Peace and Plenty. An unrivalled destination that was integral to making New Zealand the highlight of a year of endless global travel."
"Wonderful B&B in Devonport, a very lovely suburb of Auckland across the gulf (15 minutes by ferry) from downtown. Fabulous views and very quaint area. Stay in Devonport rather than downtown Auckland. Peace and Plenty is very quaint with antiques and gourmet breakfast. Fabulous old house. Very quiet. Wonderful hostess and dog. This is a great place to stay while visiting Auckland. You can walk to the ferry to downtown and Whaihiki Island - a must do if visiting Auckland. Very scenic."
